Use time-lapse to communicate your story
Make it stand out.
As well as photography, I specialise in making time-lapse films. This can be short time-lapses showing events over a few hours up to long term time-lapses for construction projects that can take years. Time-lapse is a great visual tool to communicate information effectively using video.
East Midlands bus company Trent Barton are the first to roll out tap-on, tap-off contact-less payments in the UK.
The change took place over a weekend and we captured the work with our cameras.
We used two static time-lapse cameras that were put in place two days before the work started. The cameras were powered with battery packs as mains power was unavailable. To get the right angle of view overlooking the workshop we attached the cameras to the roof supports with our ball joint mounting system. Two on the ground time-lapse cameras were used to capture the ticketing machines installation and new signage.
As part of an ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon emissions, Milton Keynes University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust has upgraded the flat roofing over its original Community Hospital buildings with insulation and photovoltaic panels.
All works were undertaken while the hospital was open and a live site, but due to the roof’s size, the project was carried out in phases. For phase one, covering 5000 m over eight roofs, an in-depth roof condition survey by Langley found that the aged felt roofs and one raised asphalt area forming the main flat roof were all showing major deterioration, ‘posing an urgent health and safety risk’. This required a rapid resolution, but it was also important to use a knowledgeable contractor that could react to the short lead-in period, project manage as budgetary/contract lead, and provide innovative solutions to on-site problems.
Time-lapse film
In 2021, the Kilnbridge team have now completed the first stage of this remarkable feat of engineering, as the team mobilised the two 1050T concrete hulls from their dockside construction site into the adjacent water in King George V Dock.
For this film, I used one solar-powered camera system to show the 16-week construction of the concrete structures.
When the time came for the structures to be floated I positioned one camera on the top of the barge to record for the entire three days it took to float them.
Over the three days, I used four on-the-ground time-lapse cameras and one motion control time-lapse unit. Still photography was also shot at different stages of the project to record build details for future reference.
I made this time-lapse film for Rushcliffe Borough Council in Nottinghamshire. the aim was to document the transformation and story of Cotgrave's redevelopment. We use one long term camera and shot more on the ground footage to capture more angles and make the story more visually interesting
One the Brayford redevelopment in Lincoln for Jackson and Jackson Developments. This project aimed to redevelop part of the Brayford that had become disused and out of date amongst the rapid growth of the Brayford and University quarter.
This redevelopment of the old Mouchel and Viking House buildings has become an impressive aesthetically pleasing focal point within the Brayford area, providing new residential and commercial facilities as part of a £20 million redevelopment. The build is eight storeys in height, with 2 newly added top floors comprising of duplex apartments fronted with glass offering unparalleled views across the city.
